This act will focus on Winterspring at first, and then turn to the Plaguelands. Act 14 left you in Darnassus. The first thing you want to do is pick up the quest The New Frontier from the courier walking around near the bank, which leads you to the Cenarion Enclave, where you were going anyway to turn in your other 10 Morrowgrain. Pick up the quest Rabine Saturna as a result.
Then head into the Temple of the Moon to fill Eridan's Vial from the well there, and to speak to Gracina Spiritmight. Also make sure you have the quest Moontouched Wildkin from Rut'theran Village.
Scene 1: Timbermaw Ally (level 54/55)
From Darnassus, fly to Emerald Sanctuary and turn in the couple quests you have. Don't bother with the follow-ups (for now.)
Then fly up to Talonbranch Glade and grab the Timbermaw quest there. Complete it, and then cross through Timbermaw Hold to Winterspring and get the quest just outside the cave mouth there. If you don't have Threat of the Winterfall, you need to return to Donova Snowden and claim that quest from her. Finish Threat of the Winterfall – the mobs for Winterfall Activity other than the Den Watchers can not be found nearby, so that one will wait.
Complete that quest, along with anything else you have waiting for Donova, such as The Videre Elixir, and then head back into Timbermaw Hold, take the northern tunnel into Moonglade, and get the flight point along the southern edge of the tiny zone. Go into Nighthaven and find Rabine Saturna; you won't find much else to do here.
Quests completed: Deadwood of the North, Feathers For Nafien, Speak to Salfa, The New Springs, Winterfall Firewater, Threat of the Winterfall, The Videre Elixir, Rabine Saturna
Flight Points: Nighthaven (Moonglade)
Scene 2: Lake Kel'theril (level 55)
It might be tempting to hang out in Winterspring. There's plenty to do here, but most of it is uncomfortably hard, and you've done enough uncomfortably hard stuff in the last few levels. Let's put this off for a level or so and go to the Plaguelands. Oh, but wait, one of the Winterspring quests goes to Eastern Plaguelands, and wants you to bring quest items from Winterspring with you. We better do that first.
Go to Lake Kel'theril to the southwest of Everlook and walk around the frozen lake looking for the patches in the ice where the relic fragments are buried. Each time you attempt to mine one of those spots, you will be attacked by two ghosts, so be ready for a fight when you do so.
Afterwards, hitch a ride over to Western Plaguelands. Stop off at in Stormwind on the way. You'll want to talk to Highlord Bolvar Fordragon in the keep to begin a quest series with him, and follow it into Old Town to talk to Mathias Shaw.
Quests completed: Enraged Spirits of Kel'theril, The First and the Last, Honor the Dead
Scene 3: Dalson's Tears (level 55)
Grab all the quests from Chillwind Camp. Hopefully you've still got Good Luck Charm, and you can pick up the rest.
Go around Andorhol, just as before, and return to Felstone Field. Fight your way back to Janice on the second floor of the farmhouse, and then look around in the field for the Jabbering Ghoul. There's only one of him, and he carries a pitchfork. The Jabbering Ghoul has the other half of Janice's charm. Return to Janice with the completed charm.
Then run east to Dalson's Tears. Just like in Felstone Field, there is a hidden questline here. Do your business with the cauldron, and then fight or sneak past the Scarlets into the barn. On the floor in the middle of the barn is the diary of the former farm owner. From there, leave the barn and look for a "Wandering Skeleton" – the only white-boned skeleton without sticks in its hands – that tends to circle around the barn area, so you may have to watch the scarlet group carefully. The Wandering Skeleton is holding the key to the outhouse behind the two buildings, and when you open it, you will fight Farmer Dalson, who has another key that will open the cabinet in the bedroom of the farmhouse.
Move slowly through all this, as it is easy to get jumped by multiple targets. After you finish the entire Locked Away line, and fill your bottle for the cauldron, come back to Chillwind Camp.
Quests completed: Flint Shadowmore, Good Luck Charm, Two Halves Become Whole, Target: Dalson's Tears, Mrs. Dalson's Diary, Locked Away 1-2, Return to Chillwind Camp
Scene 4: The Writhing Haunt (level 55)
The Writhing Haunt is the next stop on the cauldron train. And once more, there's something else to do here. However, it should be pointed out first that the mobs here are much more dangerous, especially the Freezing Ghouls. Use an air of caution.
The other quest at The Writhing Haunt comes from a druid inside one of the two small houses. He's laying down. He'll ask you to kill 8 of the diseased wolves in WPL, which only roam fairly close by. Run around looking for 8 wolves and come back to him (which means reclearing to him, ugh.) He will give you a follow-up quest for diseased grizzlies. We'll hold off on actually doing that for now.
Assuming you still have Fordring's quests in your log, ride back to Chillwind Camp and hand in your bottle. If you need them, go ride back to him. Either way, head for Light's Hope Chapel afterwards. Pick-up Defenders of Darrowshire and Zaeldarr the Outcast. Leave all the other quests alone. Set your hearthstone while you're here.
Quests completed: Target: The Writhing Haunt, Return to Chillwind Camp, The Wildlife Suffers Too, Duke Nicholas Zverenhoff
Scene 5: The Undercroft (level 55)
Leave LHC to the north, heading for Northpass tower. You want to finish up the Fordring quests. Notably, you'll need to kill 5 Frenzied Plaguehounds. They're level 57-58, but you should be able to best 5 of them by now. However, our other point of interest is finding Aurora Skycaller, who is up the road past Northpass Tower, and then to the west a bit in front of Quel'lithien Lodge. Afterwards you've finished Troubled Spirits of Kel'theril, battle your way over to Fordring and complete Demon Dogs and the other two if you've still got them.
Go all the way south to the Undercroft and start looking for a partner. You have two things to do here, and one of them is NOT soloable. The one that is is inside the crypt. You'll find Zaeldarr the Outcast at the end of the tomb, and additionally, there's a quest starter on the ground next to him called Hameya's Plea. Kill Zaeldarr and check this scroll.
The part that you DO need help for is Of Forgotten Memories, which takes place behind the crypt. One of the graves is marked as that of Tirion Fordring's. Checking the dirt nearby will spawn a team of four dwarves that are robbing graves. Your partner and you will need to decide the best way to kill the named, Mercutio Filthgorger, so you can loot the hammer he is holding. He has enough HP to make it difficult to just burn him down, but for most teams it may still be your best choice.
After finishing that task, go east to Darrowshire. Darrowshire looks like a completely deserted town, but there's more here than it seems. Little Pamela is in a ruined house behind the inn, and wants you to find her doll. There are three pieces of Pamela's doll scattered throughout Darrowshire in random spots. As you approach each one, a Ghost of the Past will attack you. You *can* loot the doll section by inching up and right-clicking from just inside of range. However, this quest is not as hard as it once was, so the single ghost that spawns should be killable. There used to be two, and that was sheer murder.
Get the three sections of the doll and form them into a whole to take to Pamela, and return them to Pamela. Then go north to the Marris Stead. There is a road that leads up onto the hill with the Marris Stead, and you should be able to find an SI:7 insignia on the ground near the road. Climb up on the hill and there should be another one nearby. The third one is a bit more difficult to get to. It's very near Nathanos, so inch up to it, check it, and back off.
Return to Tirion Fordring, and then to Light's Hope Chapel when done.
Quests completed: Demon Dogs, Redemption, Of Forgotten Memories, Zaeldarr the Outcast, Pamela's Doll, Uncle Carlin
Scene 6: Azshara (level 55/56)
Fly back to Chillwind Camp to finish The Eastern Plagues, and then travel to Ironforge to talk to Historian Karnak in The Hall of Explorers, Tymor in the Mystic Ward, and then Xiggs Fuselighter in the Military Ward. Continue to Stormwind to complete the Blightcaller series – or at least as far as we will go with it; feel free to get a raid to kill Nathanos if you can, but otherwise just drop the quest.
After all of this, you can travel to Azshara.

Ride straight up the road, but when you reach the Ruins of Eldarath, turn north and go up past Ursolan and the Timbermaw Furbolgs to (53, 21) where you will find Kim'jael. He's a goblin on a hill between the Legash Encampment and the Thalassian Base Camp, and he's got a beef with the elves to the south. Go into their camp looting crates until you recover all four pieces of Kim'jael's equipment. It should take around 12 crates to actually get all four.
Return to Kim'jael and he will send you into the Ruins of Eldarath. This area should be a joke at level 56, but there's two other freebie quests to do. You need to perform rubbings of four runes in the area, and you will need to enter the Temple of Zin'Malor. On the first level of the temple, on a ridge near the spiral ramp that leads to the second floor, is a book that you need to collect. Take it, and kill nagas in the area until you get Some Rune for Kim'Jael.
Return to Kim'jael to finish his second quest and then get ready for a long trek across the zone. Go all the way east until you reach a point where it's safe to descend to the bay, and swim to the far southeast corner. If you have Levitate, Water Walking, or Aquatic Form…lucky you. It's a long swim. If you like, you can go around on land, but it will still take at least as long and you'll be attacked more routinely.
We are striving to reach two different islands. Duke Hydraxis is on the island farthest to the southeast that is still in the bay, (79, 73). Grab two quests from him, and then head to the island in the very southeast (77, 91) where you will use your flare gun to call Xiggs Fuselighter to collect your runes.
From there you are welcome to hearth out if you're set some place nearby, but we're going to continue on in Winterspring a little bit from here.
Quests completed: The Eastern Plagues, The Blightcaller Cometh, Kim'Jael Indeed!, Kim'Jael's "Missing" Equipment, Arcane Runes, An Easy Pickup
Scene 7: O Yeti, Where Art Thou? (level 56)
Fly to Everlook, and head east and slightly north of the town to Winterfall Village. You'll be facing town gates mostly swamped with Den Watchers, and a lot of double pulls inside, so instead, turn right and walk up the slopes to the south that have more furbolgs on top of them. You'll find single pull Ursas up here plus the occasional Shaman. Ursa levels do go up to 58, so don't be reckless. Once you have your 8 Ursa kills, look around cautiously for Shamans wherever you can. The first "room" in the village has a few single pulls, and shamans tends to be scattered throughout.
From there, go south over the ridge into the Ice Thistle Hills and start hunting yetis. They range from 55-58, but the basic yetis are perfectly easy to kill even if they do freeze you intermittently. What is harder about this area is the traffic it gets. Lots of people kill these yetis for leatherworking, or because they're bots. Plus, the droprate sucks, so there might be a bunch of questers. Stick it out. Use the cave if there are no spawns around.
Return to Everlook and you will get a follow-up quest. Head back in for more yeti action, only this time you want to focus on Matriarchs and Patriarchs for the two pristine horns. The drop rate is no worse than the fur, and you only need two, so this quest actually goes by more easily. You'll find a better concentration of ma's and pa's in the cave.
From there, travel south down the road, all the way to the end and Darkwhisper Gorge to complete the objective for Strange Sources. Don't actually try to fight anything. Just ride down and then return to Everlook.
Quests completed: Are We There Yeti 1-2
Scene 8: Timermaw Neutrality (level 56)
This act will end where it began, with the Timbermaw furbolgs. Casually ride west, looking for chimeras and moonkin feathers. You do not need to complete those two quests just yet, but make sure you are working on them.
Talk to Donova Snowden and to Salfa to complete a quest from each of them, and then cross over into Felwood and return to the Deadwood Village just outside Timbermaw Hold. In the northwest corner is a cauldron guarded by four Deadwood furbolgs and one representative of the Winterfall. You need to get into that pot. Rely on the gamers in the area, on finding help, whatever, but get into that cauldron.
Run back to Donova and she will have a new task for you. Once more into Felwood, this time to collect droplets from the Toxic Horrors in Irontree Woods, which is also in the north end of the zone. Bring her back those items, and she will need you to find the Winterfall Runners. This is a team of three furbolgs that travel the road and you have probably seen by now. Ride up the road looking for them – they can range the entire length of the zone from west to the village in the east. They won't attack you, but you need to kill at least one of them. One suffices, so hit and fade since they're all level 57.
When you reach Donova this time, make sure you are prepared for a fight, or immediately run away from her as soon as you complete the quest. Some Winterfall will appear and attack you if you remain there. Finish up your Chillwind Horns and your feathers, and return to Everlook.
Donova assigned you one last task to complete: killing the chief of the Winterfall. This is not something you will do alone, and it will not be discussed again. However, because you have at this point probably two totems to give to the Timbermaw once you hit neutral, which you're probably less than 1000 away from, go grind. Yes, that's right. I'm telling you to grind. Get your reputation to neutral killing either Deadwood or Winterfall – and doing the quest to kill the chief does lead to a couple follow-up quests, so it's a good idea if you're able to – and then head into Timbermaw Hold and turn over the two totems you have.
…ok, I'll be honest, I didn't have the patience to wait it out to neutral either, but if you do, great. This is the last we will deal with the Timbermaw, so if you aren't coming back, just destroy those totems if you can't turn them in.
Quests completed: Chillwind Horns, Falling Into Corruption, Toxic Horrors, Winterfall Runners, Deadwood Ritual Totem, Winterfall Ritual Totem
Unfinished Business (level 57)
When we resume action again for real, there will be more time spent in the Plaguelands. Specifically, Plaguewood. However, there are some loose ends to tie up first.
Start off by flying to Gadgetzan. Scare Sprinkle, and then go to the graveyard outside the town and use your Videre Elixir. Due north of where you are, you will find Gaeriyan to complete the quest. Return to the graveyard, rez up, and access the "Conspicuous" gravestone. Hop a flight to Marshal's Refuge to scare Quixxil and talk to Linkin.
And while we're here, leave the Refuge west and find the ramp that leads out of the crater and into Silithus. Hand in Rabine's letter, and then just ride down the road to Cenarion Refuge to grab the flight point. Don't get any quests; we aren't staying.
Take the boat over to Wetlands and set your hearth in Menethil. Fly to Ironforge to talk to Tymor, and then go to Burning Steppes and complete Return to Tinkee at Flame Crest. Then hearth back, and fly to Light's Hope Chapel where we will begin Act 16.
Quests completed: The Videre Elixir, A Grave Situation, Linkin's Sword, A Gnome's Assistance, Wasteland, Return to Tymor, Return to Tinkee
Flight points: Cenarion Refuge (Silithus) |
