Getting Started

Heres what I?ve learned from playing WoW. Read as much or as little as you want of this, you may want to find some things out for yourself.

1. Starting the game:
When you start up the game you can choose what server you would like to be on. The server you choose is important because you can not communicate with players on different servers. There are three types of servers: PVP(Player versus player), normal, and RP(role-playing). On PVP servers there are contested zones where you can attack and be attacked by players of the opposing faction. Normal servers are servers where you can only engage in PVPing in the battlegrounds(zones specifically designed for warfare.) Then you choose if you want to be Horde or Alliance. There is a lot of history in WoW that I haven?t read into, but basically the alliance is the good guys while the horde is the bad guys. Each Faction has four playable races. Horde: Tauren (me), Undead, Orc or Troll. Alliance: Night Elf, Gnome, Dwarf, and Human. Within these ranks you choose what class you want to be. The classes are: Warlock, Shaman(horde only), Warrior, Hunter, Mage, Priest, Paladin (Alliance Only), Rogue, and Druid. Depending on what race you choose there are only certain classes you can be. For example, Taurens are huge bulls, so they can?t be rogues. Also each race has unique attributes. Taurens get some resistance to Nature spells and Warstomp, Undead get Cannibalism, and Night Elves get wisp and an ability that lets them go invisible while they stand still. Classes also decide what weapons you can use. For example: Shamans aren?t allowed to use one or two handed swords. So choose all that and load up the game.

Here?s what I know about the different classes. Take it as you will:

Druid: They are decent at damage, and are spell casters. They have the best buffs(spells put on people to help them out.) They can transform into a bear to fight, a cat to run (and go invisible, and a mongoose to swim. From what I hear they are fun classes to play due to the all around-ness of them.

Hunter: A distance fighter. You can lay traps, run fast, and do a lot of other things. These are mostly ranged fighter and are only ok at hand to hand. You can train almost any beast to be your pet and run around with you.

Mage: Does the most damage per second. They are very deadly and kill things very quick. The only problem is they can only wear cloth armor, so if you get a few hits in on them, they are dead.

Paladin: Alliance only. They are a combination of warrior and healer. They are very hard to kill. A lot of players complain at their ability to shield themselves while they heal, but they are not impossible to kill.

Priest: Major healers. That is mostly what they are used for. Very good for groups, but not very good soloing at lower levels. There is also the shadow priest, which can have the most damage in a short amount of time.

Rogue: I think this would be the most fun to have a high level in. They are very high damage per second, and can stun people leaving them unable to do anything. They can turn invisible and walk by people, guards, etc. So sometimes they will show up in opposing factions cities and take out a few people then disappear never to be seen again. Kind of slow, when you turn invisible you go 50% of normal speed.

Shaman: They attack fast, do a lot of damage and can heal themselves and others. This is the Paladin counterpart for the horde. They can lie totems which add buffs to themselves and party members. They are hard to kill and do level fast. I feel that they have the best talent in the game called windfury which gives an extra two attacks.

2. Starting Playing:
You will be in a starting location. Find the people with Yellow !?s above their heads. Yellow exclamation points above people?s heads mean they can give you a quest. Green ??s are flight paths, but I?ll talk about that later. Right click him to talk. You will get a quest to go out and kill some things. (Hitting L will bring up your Quest List) Do it. Once you kill something right click it. A box will show up with what they had on them. Left click the items and they will go into your backpack. (Holding down SHIFT while right clicking on the corpse will auto-loot everything they had. It saves some time?) Kill the number you need to and return to the same person that gave you the quest. (the minimap in the top right corner shows a yellow circle on everybody that you have completed a quest for. Also there is a Yellow ? above their heads.) Now run around and find all other quest givers and complete the quests. Along the way you will find armor and new weapons on the beasts you have killed. Some of these items your class can?t use. For example a priest can not equip mail gloves. Hit C to bring up your character menu. Drag these items to the appropriate places and they will become equipped. I will talk about items later? Complete these quests quickly. Once you get to about level (lvl) 7 find the closest city. If you are Tauren, head north to ThunderBluff. If you are Orc or Troll head north to Orgrimmor. If you are Undead go to Undercity (I think you will have to go east. If you are alliance, kill yourself and restart the game as Horde. You will be able to find better weapons and new quests in the cities.

3. Leveling up:
This is essentially the point of the game. I loved the scenery when I was a lower level, but I enjoyed the game the most once I hit about level 20. You are absolutely nothing in the game until you hit this level. You can not make instance or dungeon runs, you cant fight other people(and stand a chance), you don?t make enough gold to be able to do anything fun, and your level in mining, herbalism, and skinning sucks because you aren?t strong enough to fight the monsters that surround your mines/leather/herbs. My suggestion is enjoy the scenery, but get through to atleast level 20 as quickly as possible. Just like in Diablo, you level up by getting experience points. You get experience points in one of three ways. 1. Discovering new areas, 2. Killing monsters close to your level, and 3. By questing. Discovering new areas gets only 50-300 xp per discovery. This will be nothing compared to killing creatures and completing quests. Some people believe that killing creatures is a faster way to gain experience than questing, and others think the opposite. I go for somewhere in the middle. Most quests require either traveling or killing creatures, so I always kill things on my way to quests and kill things during quests. I find that this is the best way to gain experience. Some quests give you insane amounts of XP, so those are defiantly worth doing.

Before talking about gaining experience let me tell you something I wish I knew when I started. There is a color coded system in WoW. The colors are on the name of the quests in the quest menu, items the name of the item, skills are in the skills menu, etc. For quests it goes like this:
Quests:
Red: Huge amount of XP. Very hard. You will die unless you get a party to do it.
Orange: Still very hard and you will still die. Do-able solo, but a party is recommended. High amount of Xp.
Yellow: I do these the most. They get you a good amount of xp and are very doable solo.
Green: Easily done solo. Get you some xp
Grey: you can walk through the quest with absolutely no problem. No xp gain.

a) About Questing:
Group all of your quests together. If you have to go north for 2 quests and South for 1 quest, don?t be an idiot and do 1 quest north, run south, do 1 quest there, then head back north. I actually drew out a small map and used that for quests so I didn?t waste time. Now I know where just about everything is, so I don?t need to anymore, but it was helpful in the beginning. If you want to find anything out about any quest or where a person is, hit the window key ( the Microsoft Windows key on the keyboard) and go to google. Type in what you want to find along with ?World of warcraft? and search for it. Thottbot.com, Alakhazam.com, worldofwar.net, and Goblin Workshop are all great sights to find anything you need. This helps a lot if a quest says go kill 10 Highland Raptors but all you can find are DustMarsh Raptors. Use it if you want, or discover everything on your own. I didn?t use any sites for quests until I hit about 25 because I was having so much fun walking around everywhere and seeing everything. Once I hit 25 I wanted to lvl as quickly as possible so I could get a mount. Quests give you one of 3 things. Money, item(s), and/or reputation. Money is good, items are great, and reputation is decent. (Reputation is very important once you hit lvl 40. It gives 10% off all items within that town). Also note that some quests are considered elite. The word elite will appear next to the name of it on the Quest Screen( the ?L? button) Do not do these without others. Every monster in it will be an elite monster(talked about next.)

b) About Killing Mobs (monsters):
Just kill them. Kill as many as you can. If you are a skinner, skin them, and if you are a rogue and they are humanoids, pick pocket them then kill them. Find a way to do this as efficiently as possible. Try one attack pattern on a creature then try a different attack pattern on the same level creature. See which takes less time/mana/health and use that method. Bring food or healing potions and mana potions. This will dramatically bring down your downtime(time it takes to recover from a battle.)
There is also something called Rest State. The other form of this is Normal State. When you go to a major city or town you will begin to feel rested. You can tell this by the fact that your character has zzzzzzzz?.?s under its picture. Also your XP bar(on the bottom of the screen will turn blue). When you feel normal, that bar turns purple. Notice your xp bar is divided up into 20 sections. For every 8 hours that you are in a city (even if you are not playing and logged off) you will get one bar of xp to be rested. This means when you go out and fight, you will be rested until you gain 1 bar of xp(assuming you were in the city for 8 hours.) While you are rested you gain 200% of the normal xp from killing monsters. This is worthless until you hit about level 20-22 when one bar of xp is like 3000 XP. My suggestion: Always log out in a city or Inn. Use your hearthstone(found in your backpack, right click on it) to get to your local inn and rest there. Do it and you will be happy. Especially if you know you are going to be logged out until the next night. The other suggestion I have is to kill as high of level creatures you can without having to take downtime every 4 kills. Type in /sit during downtime to sit down and heal faster. Also, use your abilities. If you are a tauren, you have an ability called Warstomp. It is where you jump up and slam on the ground making everything around you be dazed for 2 seconds. It has a 2 minute cooldown(you cant use it again for 2 minutes) In the beginning I never used it because I always thought what if I need it within the next 2 minutes. You won?t. And if you need it more than every 2 minutes, you should fight easier things. I use my abilities all the time just because I figure I am playing for an hour a night and want to kill as many things in that hour as possible. Using my warstomp prevents me from being hit once(or 5 times depending on how many things are attacking me) which could greatly reduce my cooldown time over an hour period. One other thing about monsters: There are special elite monsters. The have the word elite in there title and when you click on them, they have a gold dragon around there picture. Some say that being elite adds 5 levels to them. I think that they just have a lot more health and a lot better armor. Do not try to kill one that is your level. Most likely it won?t happen.

4. Instances/Dungeons:
These are very cool. When you enter either a dungeon or an instance, you will walk through a portal type wall. Once you do this, the only people you will find inside are people that are in your party. Nobody else is allowed in the same instance that you are in. Also, unlike outside, once you kill a monster it stays dead until you exit the instance and go back in. This is awesome to know because if you die in an instance, it doesn?t really matter because you can just walk all the way back through to meet up with your party. There are also a ton of rare and uncommon drops in these instances. The first one you will do for horde is called Wailing Caverns (unless you are undead). It is a fun instance.

5. About Professions:
In the game you get to choose your professions. When you find the trainer to be able to learn the professions( usually in big cities), you will be given a few things that you can make or do. Everytime you make or do something with your profession you have a chance to level it up. 300 is max. Checking the AH for things that you need and plans for new items is a great idea. You may want to Thottbot the item first to see if you can get it cheaper from a vendor. If you want to be an engineer or miner you have to go to Orgrimmor. I will walk you there if you are a tauren. You get 2 main professions and 3 secondary skills. Prof?s are: Skinning, Mining, Leatherworking, Engineering, Enchanting, Herbalism, Blacksmithing, Tailoring, and Alchemy. You choose 2 of these. They are usually grouped: Skinning/LW, Tailoring/Enchanting, Mining/Eng, Mining/Blacksmithing, Herb/Alch. You can mix and match, but those are the ones that help eachother out. Just some facts about them to help you choose:

Alchemy: Makes potions. Uses a lot of herbs. Decent moneymaker. I don?t use potions, but a lot of other people pay a decent gold for some potions. Update: My new character is herbalism/alchemy. I make very decent money selling my potions, and I can make some pretty cool potions. Nothing turns a fight around more than getting full health/mana back.

Blacksmithing: Makes weapons and weapon enhancements.

Enchanting: the BIGGEST money investment. It requires Uncommon drops to disenchant. Disenchanting is when you take an uncommon to epic item and destroy it so that it turns into a shard. You then use that shard to enchant items. Makes great money after you get high in lvl in it.

Engineering: Makes gadgets, scopes. Very expensive to start with. Material(mats) are expensive. Uses a lot of minable items. Breaks off at lvl 225( I think) into gnomish engineering and Goblin Eng. I don?t know enough about either to tell you about them. Also, most of the items created in Engineering are only usable by engineers. As a Leatherworker I can not use bombs for example.

Herbalism: Picks herbs, but levels quickly.

Leatherworking: Makes Leather armor, and eventually mail armor. Breaks off into 3 categories at lvl 225(Tribal, Elemental, and Dragonscale(mail)) Great for Hunters.

Mining: Mines ore and smelts ore. Good moneymaker once you get to mining Truesilver.

Skinning: A great moneymaker. Skin all beasts you slay.

Tailoring: Makes cloth armor and clothes and bags. Makes great armor for cloth wearers.

The other option to pairing these above is to do the big moneymaker: Skinning/Mining. You will make more money in the short run, but will lose money in the long. I started as a LW/Skinner, switched to Mining/Eng, then went to Mining/Skinning, and am now LW/Skinner again. I like this pair the best. I lost a LOT of gold and time doing this. My suggestion is to take a look at this and find what is best for you.

There are also secondary skills. These are fishing, first aid, and cooking. I have fishing really high and cooking really high. First aid is expensive and wool cloth is hard to find.
If you have a pet(Hunters), get cooking. Fishing also is a great way to make money. It takes no concentration. You hit a button, wait for the bobber to drop and make a sound, then hit another button. I do it all the time when I am watching tv. There are 3 types of fish that sell Awesomely in the AH so I can pull in a lot of money for doing nothing. You can also fish up chests and crates that might have some very good stuff in it. The rarest item in the game is only found in fishing up a crate with it in it. It is dropped once a month in one location(different every month) for 1 hour(different every month).
The color coded way:
Tradeskills/professions:
Red: will defiantly get you a lvl in your tradeskill
Yellow: for the first few times it turns yellow, you will level, after that, it wont
Green: Small Small chance of level
Grey: No chance of level.

My general rule of thumb for tradeskills is that if the materials for a yellow item are half or less than an orange item, I will make the yellow item twice. Use that if you want to. Also a lot of people generally don?t go into a production profession until after 40. They cost money to make and when trying to save up for a mount, they need every gold they have. But others argue that making the items and selling them generate more gold than they spend. I disagree and you waste a lot of time making items when you could be leveling.

6. Getting Around:
This game is decent at down-time spent traveling. There are two continents and a lot of zones. You have to walk to begin with. Then when you get to a new town/city talk to the Wing-ride Instructor ( they have green ??s above there head). You will learn a new flight path. When you learn 2 you can fly between these two for a few silver. There are also Zeppelins that take you from Orgrimmor to Grom-gol Base Camp and to the Under City. Gromgol is for lvl 30-45?s so you might want to stay away from ther for now. There is also a boat to take you from Ratchet to Booty Bay. You might want to check out Booty bay early. It is just a cool place. It is contested territory, but nobody usually attacks you.
The boat and zeps are free. Another way to get around is buy using the Emote /follow. Ill talk about emotes later, but use /follow a lot. You basically find somebody you want to follow and type in /follow and you will follow them until you either hit a movement button or run into something that cuts you off from them(they run past a tree and you walk into the tree.) This is a great thing to use if you have to go a far distance. I usually put it on and go out for a jack. Mounts: You get a mount at level 40 that costs 100Gold. That may seem like a lot starting out, but you get gold quickly when you get higher in level. The mounts increase movement by 40% and you can get spurs to make your mount go faster. There is also a quest to get a [Carrot on a Stick] that increases your mount?s speed. When you get to level 60 there is an epic mount that costs 1000 Gold. It increases movement by 100%. Note: Warlocks get mounts for free(well, the epic mount will defiantly cost some gold because you need items that are created by every profession) but they don?t buy it. Also some classes have travel form. Druid turns into a cat and runs at 30% faster, Hunters get aspect of cheetah that increases run speed by 20% and mages get Blink, that jumps them forward 20yards with a 15second cool down. Mages also learn teleport, that can teleport them to major cities without having to get on a wind-rider or zeppelin. And Shamans or priests, but I think shamans can resurrect you if you die.

7. Money:
You live on money. Every 2 lvls you gain you get to learn new skills for your class. They cost money. Everytime you get hit, your armor loses some durability. Repairing them costs money. If you want new items, they cost money. Riding on the gryffons cost money. You get the point. So there are a few ways to make money. Selling to vendors, selling to other people, questing, and finding money on your victims. Sell normal items to vendors. These are white items. Always, always, always put green and better items up for sale in the AH (auction house) or sell them to other people. AH is a better choice. The auction house for Horde is in Orgrimmor(Org). Check it out. It is also the only place you should buy equipment once you find it. You can sell just about any green item for about 30-80 silver. Depending on what it is. Shields go for a little bit more. To find out a good price, type the name of the item into the search box and see if anything comes up. If it does, make an auction for the same bid-rate and 1silver less buyout. It works just like ebay. You can either bid on it or buy it out for a certain price. People are always looking for good items for there alternative low level characters, so these high level characters will pay a lot for something that you would not want to pay for. Always always put a buyout price people do not want to wait around for a bidding period to end, even if its for an extra gold. You can also choose to have a long, short, or very long auction time. Peak hours are from 9pm-3am.(it is a nationwide server.) So make sure your item lasts through at least one full peak hour period. There are also items that are dropped that may not seem important to you but will bring in more gold than other items. For example, if your bags are full and you find a Perfect Deviate Scale, and one of your bags has a Deviate Scale in it, replace it with the perfect one. It will sell for more. Also, don?t be afraid to be completely and utterly broke. I have literally had not a single copper coin to my name, went outside, killed things for 10 minutes, came back inside sold my stuff and had enough silver to get somewhere to make loads of money. You can also ask for enough money to get a ride, and usually people are ok with donating 5silver.

Color codes for the Items:
White: Nothing special. Sell to vendors.
Green: Uncommon. Sell in the AH or trade channel chat.
Blue: Rare items. Sells for about 5x what a normal item of the same idea would cost. Always sell in trade channel or AH for no less than 5G.
Purple: Epic items. Always always sell these items. They are generally only a fraction better than green items, but people want them because of there rarity.
Legendary??. These sell for 300-1000G, sometimes more. If you find one of these sell it like there?s no tomorrow. I don?t know if I have ever seen one to tell you the truth!

8. Chatting in the game:
Try all these out. If you hit return a box will open on the bottom of the page. Tyoe something in and you will say it. Saying it will allow for people around you to hear you and they will see a cartoon thought bubble above your head with the text inside. Now click on somebody and hit return again. This time type ?/w words words words? then hit return again. You have just whispered somebody. Only that person will see what you wrote, in this case: ?words words words?. You can also type ?/w Stigg yo? hit return again. Now you have just sent a whisper to the most wonderful person in the world, me. No matter where I am at, I will see the message ?yo?(unless im not playing.) If somebody has whispered you, you can type ?/r message? and that will reply ?message? to the last person you have talked to.
There are also general chats. If you type /1 it will get you the General chat for the zone your in. This message will appear to every person that is in your zone. /2 is the trade channel. Only certain places have this channel. If you type /2 you can then SHIFT-CLICK on an item and it will appear in the trade channel. (This also works in whipers and in guild chat) Use this if you are in a city and are trying to sell something. WTS means want to sell and WTB is want to buy. /3 is Local defense. /4 is LFG(looking for group. Useful if you are going on a hard quest) /g brings up guild chats.

9. Emotes:
These are cool. Type in / then a lot of words and you will either say them, act them out, or they will just be said. For example. If I type in /cheer I will say either ?For the Horde?, ?Let our ancestors be praised? and raise my arms in the air. Others are Flirt ?You know the only thing old bulls are used for?, dance, no, yes, beckon, point, sit, sleep, cry, spit, fart, burp, follow, etc. Try them out. There are a ton!

10. Fighting other people:
This is the best part of the game. There are 3 types of zones. Friendly, Contested, and enemy. You will start in a friendly zone and mostly stay in a friendly zone until level 20ish. This means members of the opposing faction (Alliance if you play horde and horde if you play alliance) can not attack you unless you attack them. Contested zones are a free for all. You can attack them and they can attack you without restriction. If you kill somebody within 10 levels of you(below you) you get an honor kill and honor points. If you get a lot of them, you get a cool rank, and if you get a ton you get cool prizes. If you get the third rank you get 10% off good purchased everywhere(so if you are honored with a city it gets you 20% off, great for buying your 100G mount!) Honor points are calculated every night and ranks are handed out weekly. Enemy zones you can?t attack unless you are attacked first. I have a blast going to Alliance starting zones and annoying all the starters until they attack me and then I kill them for the next 30 minutes. They eventually beg you to stop. O yea that?s another emote. /beg. So never attack an alliance unless you can kill them if you are in a Friendly zone. If for whatever reason they are camping you (they have killed you and wont leave your corpse, type /1 I am being camped by a Night Elf Rogue near the Swamp, or whatever and people will eventually come to help you. Also, don?t think you?re the crap and try to attack somebody 5 levels or more above you. It won?t happen unless you have planned it completely out. I have gotten my butt handed to me by rogues that are 7 levels below me, but that is because they snuck up on me, stunned me hit me four times, then I would get in a few hits, they would be almost dead, they would stun me again, heal themselves, and repeat. They suck. I have taken out a lot of people that are 5 levels above me by hiding and ambushing them with a trap laid out, my pet waiting somewhere to confuse them and running like mad. But, just in general if you stumble across somebody much higher than you, stop, type /wave. If they wave back, you are most likely fine to go about your business. If they don?t wave back?run like hell. You also do not lose or gain anything by killing other people. They do not give you experience, money, items?nothing besides honor. And in return you do not lose anything if you die. NOTHING, so don?t worry about it if you get jumped. The only thing that sucks is you are wasting time walking back to your body.

a) Warsong Gulch
Warsong Gulch is the battlegrounds in The Barrens. It is the northernmost spot in the barrens and up on a hill to the west. What it is is a place where 10 alliance fight 10 horde in a capture the flag contest. It is a great place to get honor points and also gives you like 1300 XP for a win. It is played to 3 flag captures. The only problem is that there is usually a huge wait to get in. I have waited for 4 hours once to get in. You do not have to wait in line though. You run up to a wall hit Join battle and go about your day. Once time comes up for you to join, a screen pops up and says ?You are now eligible to join Warsong Gulch.? Click yes and you are teleported into the battle. They have the games broken up into 10 levels per game. They start at 20, so it goes:
Levels 20-29 Levels 30-39 Levels 40-49 Levels 50-59 Level 60
There is also another Battlegrounds for level 50-60?s but I don?t know where it is. It is much larger though, like 20 or 40 per side. In that one you have to take over there bases and do a bunch of shit. I haven?t played it so I am only going on what I have read. Also this is the only place where you can loot other players. If you kill somebody you can get money off of them and sometimes cool drops. They can do the same to you. This is not your money from your bank. You will not lose anything during these battles(except bullets, arrows, things like that.)

b)Other Battlegrounds
There is now another battlegrounds in Arathi Highlands. It is different than capture the flag, now it is more like king-of-the-hill. There are 5 locations, and the longer you control them the more resources you get. The first team with 2000 rescources wins the game. This takes about 40 minutes pre game, but I was in one that lasted over 2 hours. That was hell, but a lot of fun. You can get a shitload of honor kills doing this. There is also another BG that is for level 54 or something.
C) Cities also have battlemasters that allow you to enter Warsong Gulch and Arathi Basin from them.

11. Parties and guilds:
If you are questing to kill a certain number of things, get a party together. Not only does this make killing them easier, but you also all share the kill. So for instance if you have to kill 10 dragonlings and are partied up with one other person you still need to kill only 10 dragonlings and not 20. The only problem is the Experience you gain from killing the monsters is half the experience you would have gained. Guilds are one of my favorite parts of the game. I have been in 3 so far. I got recruited when I was level 6 to some guild. They sucked. They never talked and never helped anybody out. They were also rarely on. The second guild I was part of I had to ?prove my worthiness? by dueling a warrior of the same level. I crushed him and joined. There were so many people and they were all like 10 years old so I quit and am on HORRIBLE terms with them. Guilds are decently complex. There are different ranks in guilds and different types of guilds. I don?t know all the ranks, I think there are like 6. I am second in command of my guild(along with 4 others) under the Guildmaster. There are fun guilds, leveling guilds, tradeskill guilds, race guilds, class guilds, acting guilds? so on and so forth. I like my guild because we help eachother and do not spam the hell out of the chat channels. So find a guild you enjoy and join. They might quest with you, give you items, sell them to you cheap, or just straight out give you money. But be nice to them, they can annoy you forever. Find a guild that matches your playstyle and if they are too annoying leave. If people annoy you in the game type /ignore NAME.

12. Definitions of things you will see in the chat channels:
Locations:
Org: Orgrimmor(major city in Durotor. , Orc/troll)
UC: Under City (Major City in Tirisfal , Undead)
TB: ThunderBluff: (Major City in Mulgore , Tauren)
BB: Booty Bay (in STV)
GG: GromGol Base Camp (in STV)
STV: Stranglethorn Valley
AH: Auction House(found in Orgrimmor, and when you get to a higher level theres a contested one in Tanaris)

Instances:

Chats:

WTB: Want to buy
LFG: Looking for group
LF#M: Looking for (Number) More
FTW: For the Win
AFK: Wway from keyboard (/afk is the emote. If you are in a place that is contested and need to go away from the computer, type this. Some guilds have strict laws that you can?t attack people while they are afk. Others think of afk as ?A free kill?)
DND: Do not disturb(/dnd is the emote.)
IMO/IMHO: In my (humble) opinion.

13. Other random things about WoW:
? Get as big of bags as you can. 10 slots is bare minimum after level 14. You can have up to 5. Buy from the AH.
? When you die you turn into a ghost. Walk to your body. You can walk on water.
? Download UI?s and mods from worldofwar.net. Find the ones that you like and follow the directions. They are a lot of fun to have. I have fishing buddy and another UI that puts a bar on top with a lot of info, including what time it is in real life. Haha very helpful.
? If a person is riding a mount he is above level 40. This is useful information if you see an alliance running/riding around and put it in the chat channel.
? If you see a member of the opposing faction, you can only see what lvl he is if they are within 10 levels above you.
? If your name is purple you are not tagged for PVP( you can not be attacked by alliance). If your name is green You can be attacked.
? Falling does damage.
? Yellow named monsters will not attack you without being attacked first, red ones will.
? Running close to monsters that are red and close to your level will make them attack you.
? Your action bar has a lot of different levels. Click on the up and down arrows on the screen to scroll through them and SHIFT-#, where # is a number will give you that bar.
? Dueling will not kill you. To duel, click on that person, right click on their picture and click duel. This is a great way to see if you can PVP at all.
? The NUMLOCK key is autorun. Use it all the time.
? You can buy bag slots for your bank account. Do it as soon as you get the money and need to.
? Ask other people anytime you have a question. I didn?t to start with and I wasted a lot of tiem trying to figure them out on my own. There are people playing that have 20 characters to lvl 60.
? Weapons have 2 ways to look at damage. There is DPS (damage per second) and Damage. I always go for the weapons that can do the most damage, and disregard DPS. If you land a crit(critical hit) it does 150% of total damage. I like that more. Unless you are a rogue, in which case you want dps.)

Well I hope that helps you out a little bit. I am tired now and need to get some sleep. I wanted to make a newbie guide to the game and see if I could get it posted, so here it is. Read it if you want, or discover it for yourself. Peace bud.
