The Feast of Winter Veil is both a ingame holiday and an event that begins December 15th

and lasts until January 2nd. It loosely emulates the religious holiday of Christmas without any
of the religious overtones making it a very fictional and politically correct holiday. The Feast of
Winter Veil does extend through New Years although there is an entirely separate holiday that
covers that event.
There are a few quests to attend to, lots of presents, and some wonderful holiday loot to be

had during the event. Most major cities are covered all about in various decorations ranging
from holiday decorated trees to fanciful lights. The major capitals of Ironforge and Orgrimmar
contain the majority of the decorations along with Greatfather Winter but the Undercity and
Stormwind aren’t far behind. The cities of Silvermoon City and The Exodar also contain livery
for the season.
Random Events
There are a few random events that either give you some wintery loot or even an advantage in
PvP combat.
In Alterac Mountains and Dun Morogh you can find various “Holiday Snow” snow mounds
which can be looted for snowballs.
In Alterac Valley you can find “Hardpacked Snowdrift” which will allow you to loot five

Hardpacked Snowballs. These snowballs will dismount and knock back someone on the
opposing team. They last roughly ten minutes and can not be used on allied players.
Winter Revelers are all around. Using the /kiss emote on them will get you either five sprigs of
Mistletoe, five batches of Fresh Holly, or five Handfuls of Snowflakes.
Smokywood Pastures opens for business selling Recipes for Gingerbread Cookies and Egg
Nog along with Snowballs and some winter treats.
Blizzard forum posters gain a neat avatar of a snowman.
Presents appear under the tree in Orgrimmar and Ironforge starting the 25th. The Clockwork
Rocket Bot will be up under the tree this year as something new. Most presents require a
certain level before you can open them.
Holly works on flying mounts.
Loot
Red & Green Winter Hats
The Red and Green Winter Hats are the perfect compliment to the Red and Green Winter
Clothes. You can obtain a Green Winter Hat from Grand Warlock Nethekurse (Shattered
wow power leveling
Halls), Exarch Maladaar (Auchenai Crypts), or Grandmaster Vorpil (Shadow Labyrinth). The
Red Winter Hat can be obtained from High Botanist Freywinn (The Botanica), Captain Skarloc
(Escape from Durnholde Keep), or Nethermancer Sepethrea (The Mechanar).
Red & Green Winter Clothes
Artisan Tailors receive Pattern Green Winter Clothes (Horde) and Pattern: Red Winter
Clothes (Alliance) in the mail. Artisan Leatherworkers receive the Pattern: Winter Boots in the
mail. This means that you’ll need a Tailor to make the clothes and a Leatherworker to make
the boots. You’ll need to use the neutral auction house to obtain the alternate set. Be careful
of price gouging!
Quests
The quests work the same for both sides.
Greatfather Winter: So first you’ll need to find Greatfather (or Great-father) Winter who will
request some Milk and Gingerbread Cookies. Buy the milk from a vendor and obtain the
cookies from either the AH or make them yourself (nearby Goblins sale the recipe).

Stolen Treats: Talk to a goblin who will give you the “Stolen Winter Veil Treats” quest. Then
head to 35,72 in Alterac Mountains where you’ll meet a snowman. He’ll tell you to kill the
Grinch who patrols around him. Think about 30,62 will be about right. Just you know in the
area about the snowman. Then return to the goblin for your winter treats. Which is a recipe
and then some nice stuff.
Metzen: Get the quest from the goblins then head to 67,34 Searing Gorge or 73,47 Tanaris to

rescue him (use the dust on him). There are some level 45ish guards about. You’ll get 5x
Preserved Holly.
