In this thread I will list the mage sets, what their combined stats are,
and how you can mix your pvp sets which consist only of 6 pieces. it will also
contain some rings, trinkets, necklaces and weapons/wands. All so you mages
don't have to calculate it yourself to decide which set to choose. :) Note: This
is a fairly long thread, so bear with me, but I hope it can help low lvl mages
and mages in general who are having trouble deciding what sets to get, so I made
this to sum up the stats they get from different sets. Hope it helps.
Also, check out Noesis' sticky on forums about pre-epic dmg gear.

First comes the tier 0 set, obtained from Scholomance, Stratholme, UBRS and
LBRS.
Magister's Regalia:
Armor: 691
Intellect: 167
Stamina: 66
Spirit: 79
Resistances: +8 to all resistances (set bonus)
+Dmg and healing: 23
+spell crit: 0
+Spell hit: 0
mana /5 sec: 0
Set bonuses:
(2) Increases Armor by 200.
(4) Increases dmg and healing done by magical spells and effects by up to 23.
(6) When struck in combat has a chance of freezing the opponent in place for up
to 3 seconds.
(8) +8 All magic resistance.
This is a high mana, low stamina type of gear. It gives a LOT of mana for a
non-epic set, but it has less stamina than other types of gear. It has decent
spirit, but low dmg and healing bonus.
All in all a decent PvE gear, but for PvP you need more stamina.
Next comes the tier 0,5 set, obtained by upgrading the tier 0 set through
quests found in Orgrimmar and Ironforge, respectively. (Don't try going to
Orgrimmar if you're alliance, and vice versa ^_^ )
Sorceror's Regalia:
Armor:728
Intellect:145
Stamina:104
Spirit:72
Resistances: +8 to all resistances (set bonus)
+dmg and healing:107
+spell crit:1%
+spell hit:1%
mana /5 sec: 0
Decreases magic resistance on target by 20 (Robe bonus)
Set bonuses:
(2) +8 All magic resistance.
(4) When struck in combat has a chance of freezing the opponent in place for up
to 3 seconds.
(6) Increases dmg and healing done by magical spells and effects by up to 23.
(8) Increases Armor by 200.
This set is a good deal better both for PvE and PvP due to it having dmg and
healing bonus, more stamina, and a bit more armor, although it sacrifices a
little bit of intellect. A well rounded set, AND you can get it even if you are
a casual player.
