Taking your Rogue into PvP.
O.K. You are level 60 and ready to hit the BG’s. Let’s look at each one
individually:
Alterac Valley:
AV is a playground for a Rogue, you can literally do almost anything.
Defense:
If you side is getting pushed back you have a few options:
1. Ninja a GY past the front line, you really only need 1 partner for this.
2. Ninja a mine, again you need a partner for this.
3. Stealth past the front line to get hides from wolves/rams, for your teams
riders.
4. You can attempt to Ninja a keep, however this really only works for the
Alliance.(Change flag thru wall)
5. If you are hard Sub specced AND have a “pair on youâ€, you can do something
really risky. Stealth to their current GY spawn. Wait for the 30 sec rez, (stealthed)
target either a Mage or Priest and sap them. Most likely the others that rezzed
will start looking for you using AOE, flares, totems etc… If you can pull this
off, without getting detected, you will be pulling one of the enemy healers off
the front line and whoever is wasting their time looking for you. This is more
of a “taking one for the team†since you get no Honor and will most likely get
revealed, unless you are very good.
As far as defending a frontline as it is collapsing in front of you, this is
really not a good role for you. When you pop your stealth and attack, you are
almost always going to get wiped. In the few seconds it might take you to kill
someone, by the time you are done, you may be alone and spammed with DPS. If you
find yourself coming up on a pair of enemy that are trying to ninja a GY, don’t
close to melee, simply shoot the capper, the guards will soon return and wipe
him/her.
On Offense:
See all those things to do when on defense? You should not do ANY of those if
your frontline is winning against your opposition. When your side has the enemy
front line moving backwards it is time for you to help by PUSHING!
As fast as you can go around the front line, (Do not go thru because of the
normal AEO spam, it will blow your stealth) Target a Priest or Mage, (whichever
has the most mana, a caster with no mana is useless) and either sap or kill. You
might come upon a situation with 2 casters very close together, don’t kill one!
Sap one and start to kill the other, this way you take out 2 casters from the
combat instead of just one. Also be advised that when fighting a Mage or a
Priest, expect a root or fear bomb. If there is not a Mage or Priest then look
for a Hunter. Of course there will be other targets as well but Warriors,
Pallies, and morphed Druids are not a priority. As far as targeting Druids, I
would only do this if they are in caster form, unless you have no other choice.
If at a Flag: (GY or Building)
Your mission changes here. If you are at a flag defending, wtf are you doing?
You would be helping your team much better elsewhere. If you are on offense and
capping an enemy flag stay close but out of AOE range of the flag. If you are at
a flag and you see a buddy nearby getting his ass handed to him, IGNORE IT!
(Unless there is only 1 enemy in sight) Your mission is to guarantee that the
flag gets capped, not being a hero. Capping flags wins games, saving your
buddies butt, gets you a “thank you.†LOL, if you go to save me and we lost the
flag I would scream at you! I have seen many noobs do this, death brings you a
full hp and mana bar, losing a flag wastes time and costs your team ground. I
will take the full hp and mana bar, and so will anyone else that knows how to
play.
WSG:
Properly using stealth in WSG can be a weapon on its own. You also have many
choices here, what role that will best help your team greatly depends on what
classes make up your team.
Escorting the Flag:
This role really does not suit your skill set, and for the most part of WSG, I
would try to avoid this role. If you are forced to escort, instead of engaging
the enemy, blind him and let the flag role past, you can also “Gouge and Go.â€
The most important thing to remember here is your life is meaningless when the
flag is on the move, dispatch the players trying to stop the flag at all cost.
Defending a Flag:
This job is O.K. if your team needs it. If you can easily handle the person that
comes for the flag kill them, if there are multiple people coming for the flag,
you need to delay them as much as possible, Sap or Blind. If it is an incoming
zerg, either look for the Druid or Priest, taking out an enemy healer trying to
keep the flag carrier alive is almost as good as killing the flag carrier
themselves. If you can, always use a gouge, or KP, this will add a few seconds
on the flag not traveling toward the enemy base.
Carrying the Flag:
This can be done effectively with a skilled Rogue. Always use your Sprint and
any speed bursts, pop a FAP if you have one. Do not stop to engage an enemy,
(Unless you have healers with a lot of mana) Blind and run. There are better
classes to carry the flag though, as a rule of thumb:
1. Druid
2. Shaman
3. Warrior
4. Pally
Attacking the enemy with your flag:
This is your primary role, your team has the enemy flag and the enemy team has
yours. 2 Rouges can easily take the flag from the carrier even with 2 healers as
guards. Sap, Sap, and both DPS on the carrier. Stun lock Rogues can really be a
pain in the butt to the enemy here.
Arathi Basin:
Here you really only have 2 options, defending a flag or taking it. Both of
these can be done solo, if need be. If defending and you have an enemy incoming
just engage while they just start to cap the flag. If you have 2 incoming, then
you will need to Sap the capper and engage the other, if the enemy comes out of
Sap you will need to Blind. If you are attacking a flag always Sap and get the
cap before starting combat. |
