I recently dusted off my priest and started the final climb to 60. Last night
I dinged 48 and noticed something quite interesting. In the last few days of
playing the priest, I ran SM Library at 47 with a group of guildies and noticed
that with SWP and imp vamp embrace on the mobs, I almost NEVER had to heal
anyone. Now a 47 priest in SM Library is hardly impressive so I paid little
attention to it but I did take note.
Last night I ran ZF in a group that was basically all 47s and a 50 rogue.
Immediately I noticed the same exact thing. After a pull, I'd SWP and VE the
main target and at about 30% I'd switch to the next mob and SWP/VE it. Every
party member was staying above 90% health for all 3-4 mob groups. All I needed
to do to top off the entire group was to throw a MB or a MF. We steamrolled the
place. Only time we had a problem was when dumb old me agrro'd 2 pats after a 5
mob pull in Gahz Rillas room.
Mana wise it may seem wasteful but when you factor in the damage output and the
group heal effect (including pets), it's wildly efficient. I'm not claiming to
be a resto druid or a holy priest but I'm certainly keeping everone alive AND
dealing some damage to boot. I'm gonna have to try it from shadowform and see if
there is a bump in the heals. The whole group is gonna have a fit that their
healer in in Shadowform....
I'm going to try this in Mara tonight or tomorrow and see if the theory holds
water in a slightly tougher instance.
