I was reading in another thread about soloing being the only way to level and
I have to disagree about the soloing advice so I posted these comments there but
think it should be seperated out.
A note to the veterans: this is more for new players to help them with getting
into groups and quests. No need to bash for posting "common sense stuff".
Some rules:
First, Questing is the fastest way to level, especially when young (up to 40).
The problem is that in the higher levels traveling to turn in the quests and the
number of quests available diminish making grinding more effcient. To beat that
problem, you have to group quests together and turn them in together.
There are 3 types of quests: Fed Ex (deliver something), Scavenger Hunt (collect
something), and Kill Stuff. The fastest way to level ANY TIME in the game is to
complete kill quests.
Second, grouping to complete quests is the fastest way to complete a quest,
regardless of level. No matter what class you are, you can kill 3 times as fast
if you get a partner. For example, a rogue and a priest are an excellent duo,
one kills, one heals, kills, helps with adds. Meanwhile the kill quests take 1/3
the time because not only are you kiling 2 times as fast, you aren't wasting
time resting. When the priest sits to rest, the rogue keeps killing. When done
resting the priest heals up the rogue and joins in the fight.
What about the collection quests? Okay you have to collect 10 things. If you are
killing 3 times as fast you are gonna get your items in 2/3s of the time.
The problem with grouping is that there are so many noobs who dont know how to
play it makes grouping really difficult for those of us who know what to do. The
solution is to be the boss.
You invite the people, you control what quests, you leave the group if it is not
going well. Keep the group small and it should be no problem. Grouping only
hurts if you stay with a stupid group. Makes you the responsible one--you have
to keep thotbot open to find where the items are. Ofcourse, If someone you've
invited knows where to go, let them lead.
Finally how do you get a group?
At lower levels the best way is to go where you need to for your quest start on
your own and invite anyone in the area doing the same quest. They'll most likely
be doin the same quest and then will tag along with you for the other quests on
your list. Asking for help in general chat is not as smart: the players who
accept an invite can be all over the map, wasting time getting to you, pulling
mobs as they run to you, or holdin you up while they turn in a quest. Make sure
to share any quests you can. Pay attention to what people are looting. Sometimes
they will have a quest to collect stuff that you don't have and you can ask them
to share.
At higher levels, the opposite is true. On PVP servers, wanderin around solo is
a bad idea. Get to the friendly flight path and ask in chat who is working the
quest. You'll find a buddy soon enough.
Please feel free to add to this tips for questing/grouping
